Creative Writing
We're not just about reading—we're about writing, too. Our creative writing minors are doers and makers with opportunities to produce poetry, short fiction, novels, creative nonfiction, film, and drama.
What You'll Study
You'll take classes in poetry and short fiction, of course, but you'll also have opportunities to study screenwriting, the young adult novel, and creative nonfiction. Since good writers are always good readers, you'll also take literature courses to learn from the best of the best.
Practical Experience
Creative Writing minors can work with FLARE, the student-run literary magazine. There, you'll do everything from read submissions to host the issue launch reading. You can also find editing and writing opportunities through internships in the community!
