Reaching out to raise up
Oct 18It’s a Wednesday night at a sandy vacant lot in downtown St. Augustine and people are lining up along a wooden fence decorated with signs that read “Bring peace” and “Compassion for all.” On plastic tables under white tents, Flagler students pass out slices of pizza, pile mounds of spaghetti on plates and hand out cupcakes. -
Strengthening student opportunities
Mar 29Thanks to the generosity of Peter and Sue Freytag of Palm Coast, Flagler College has established its second endowed professorship, the Peter and Sue Freytag Distinguished Professors in Business Endowed Fund. This professorship follows the creation of The Craig and Audrey Thorn Distinguished Professor of Religion position, which was awarded to Dr. Timothy J. Johnson in 2014. -
New residence hall at FEC
Mar 29On the verge of its 50th anniversary in 2018, Flagler College is embarking on one of its largest construction projects with a $23 million residence hall, student commons and parking facility designed to meet one of the college’s goals of increasing the number of students living on campus. -
Focused on serving the public
Mar 29This past December marked the 10th year since Flagler College graduated the first class from its Public Administration program. In that decade, Flagler diplomas have become a common sight among law enforcement, government and fire service offices throughout Northeast Florida, and especially St. Johns County. -

New Business Advisory Board Sparks Connections

In April, Flagler held the inaugural meeting of its new Business Advisory Board, a group of prominent area business leaders who will serve as the primary link between the business community and the college’s Business Administration Department. Approximately 25 percent of Flagler students major in Business Administration, Accounting or Economics. This new board will help the college serve these students in a number of ways. -

Forging the Braille Trail in St. Augustine
Mar 19Cody Kirchner lost his vision as a small child, and he knows how intimidating it can be to be a blind person in a sighted world. Once, when the Flagler College senior was still in high school, a teacher in a mobility class gave him the task of finding his way home — alone — in a crowded city. The assignment demanded that he navigate pedestrian crossings and public transportation. -

Mar 19Flagler College’s Education of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing program celebrated a banner year of support in 2014. The program opened its new American Sign Language (ASL)? lab in September, and then in December received a $26,400 gift from the Alfred I. duPont Foundation. -
